When Gary Rosenberg opened his first Spaghetti Shop in 1988, his mantra was to provide traditional Italian food served piping hot at affordable prices. Now, 27 years and another location later, he knows so much more about running a successful eat-in, carry-out and catering business and much of it he has learned through experience with his business clients.

Rosenberg’s clients cross the river and stretch all the way to Shelbyville. Chase Bank, LG&E, Louisville and Southern Indiana hospitals and pharmaceutical companies make up a significant portion of his client list, and he has learned that “these professionals want something that tastes like it should be on china, but they want it fast, easy and with a variety of tastes so there is something for everyone.”

Rosenberg has always had confidence in his product. “We make our own original sauces and bake our bread fresh every day,” he said. He has had the same manager for more than 16 years, a record he is very proud of. His biggest challenge has been finding or creating the networking opportunities he needs to maintain a thriving business.

Rosenberg credits his 10-year membership in Greater Louisville Inc. with providing the connections he needs and for helping him to learn how to approach people. “As a small, family-owned business, it’s great to have a resource where you can ask questions and get solid answers,” he said.

He is also delighted with the many positive comments he gets from his corporate catering clients. “I have been ordering from The Spaghetti Shop for several years now,” said Vicky Duncan of Rudd Equipment. “We train technicians at our company and sometimes I have to provide lunch from twelve to fifteen days a month. I place a catering order with The Spaghetti Shop and I have always been happy with the food, service and the punctuality of the delivery, not to mention the value for what you get.”

According to Rosenberg, he is happy with the value he receives from GLI as well.
